Akuta

Akuta (アクタ) is the main character and protagonist of Utawarerumono: Lost Flag. A man with an amnesia emerge from Abh-Kamu after hearing Minagi sincere voice for help. He has a black mask around his left eye which can't be removed. He works as an Arbiter before begin promoted to Flag Captain.

Appearance[]

Akuta is a tall man with good build. He has a short hair with black kimono and wear white arbiter shirt outside. His face is sometime describe to be a thug-like and scary.

Personality[]

Honest and loyal as well as courageous. He is a type of man who won't change his mind once he has decided and will risking his life to help his close one even though it's beyond his capability. He's a kind man who treats people nicely as long as he doesn't see them as a bad person, he also can be a bit too considerate at time which land him into troubles quiet often.

Despite suffering from an amnesia, he is very observant and wary of the situation. He tend to figure out people very quickly but usually prefers not to pry into their privacy unless necessary.

Because of this, he has gain many friends and allies through out his journey who in returns have no problem to help him back when he needed it.

Background[]

Akuta worked as the pilot of Abel-Kamul and lived in one of the facility led by Raven along with his childhood demihuman friend, Ozuchi before the calamity fall on the humanity.

Story[]

Relationships[]

Minagi - A girl who he swears to save from her fate to become the next Orishiro. The two is shown to have strong and close relationship .

Raven - His biological father, he is skeptical about him as he tend to omit some important info away from him but they're decently on good term. It's was revealed that his relationship with him in the past was pretty bad due to his mad scientist tendencies, and become even worst after he learned what he did to Ozuchi.

Kotama - Minagi's younger sister who took a liking of him.

Kuuran - An orphan boy he met who later come to see him as an Aniki.

Suzuri - A Keburishi that Akuta met during Pandemic arc. Akuta's kind word eventually made Suzuri falls for him.

Shirayuki - A Shakokupolu girl who joined him after Kidnapping arc. She has tried to seduce him with zero progress.

Dii - Both have comedic relationship going on, with Dii begin over-friendly yet always has his own agenda cause Akuta's to be constantly worried.

Natoriitori - He always treat her like a normal human-begin which made her slowly step away from "I'm a tool" mindset.

Magne Signe - Magne used to dislike him, calling him trash and all but slowly become nicer to him overtimes after he spend time to play games with her.

Tsukuyomi - He become her master after released her from the core.

Orishiro - There are some intense tension going between them that are hard to described.

Ienaga - They didn't get along but Akuta knows that he is not exactly a bad guy.

Ozuchi - The demihuman girl in his past who was his caretaker and lover before the awaken of Uitsualnemetia.

Haku - They become fast friend during Haku's short stay in Karaza before he went back to his world. They have a short reunion when Haku, now as a Mikado come to save Ranshtal and the other heroes. Haku in Akuta's eyes is a hardworking man.

During his Black Liberator story, Akuta would had to face against Haku (now as Oshtor) from the trilogy timeline as one of the trials in Dream Arena. Akuta (who appeared as a nameless beast to him) immediately notices something is off about Oshtor and realized that it's was Haku when he use his Tessen to block his attack. The moment before Akuta is killed by him, the memories of Haku flows into him, seeing Haku's resolved and hardship he had endured cause Akuta to pull himself up together and made his own resolved to do whatever it's take to defeat Orishiro and saves Minagi.

Hakuowlo - He's first mention when Tuskur is tried to told him his name but because of the principle of the world, his name was censored. It's not until he went to stop Rinne from killing him by going into the trilogy timeline (or at least the timeline that's similar to) where he would meet with the man himself face to face. They become friend and trust each other in short time although Akuta comments that for some reason he feels that "He and Hakuowlo are two mans that shouldn't met". After Rinne incident was solved, he request Hakuowlo not to mention him and Juuni in their history in which he promised.

He would have a short reunion with him later when he heard about Hakuowlo himself become a Marebito and now lives with his three daughters and come to visit him along with Juuni in the small village of Shishikuma, this is the last time they had a talk as Hakuowlo go back to his world shortly after.

Abilities & Equipment[]

Black Mask - An unknown small black mask that can't be removed. Aside from enhance his physical, it's appears to possess a lot of supernatural power such as sensing certain people past or sent his conscious into another timeline. In Chapter 12, it's reveals to be the fragment of Uitsualnemetia who fused with him after granted his wish to save Ozuchi.

Skewer Sword - A weird shape looking sword that he got from one of Minagi's favorite restaurant. It's appears to be one of his work-related tool in the past.
Black Powersuit - A suit made by The Liberator, although it's claimed that the costume doesn't give him any power boost and more or less just a symbol of his determination. The suit is actually Akuta's pilot suit which he rode his Abel-Kamul back in the ancient time.

Trivia[]

Akuta's name came from what Orishiro refers him as Shiriakuta which mean dust or garbage. He decided to use this name as a symbol of his resolve of resisting.
In the beginning of the story, the near dead Minagi unconscious desperate to survive, bite and drink Akuta's blood which allows her to recovered from her mortal wound. As Akuta was a normal human it's likely that his blood was enhanced to something special due to the black mask's influenced.
While he able to read the English language just fine, he had forgot most of the words meaning.
There is a running gag where he often begin topless either from works related or other incidents.
In Chapter 2, when asked what is his actual name, Raven jokingly say it's "Hiroshi" in which Akuta replied that is definitely not his name.
In Chapter 12, it's revealed that he originally had bad eyesight and had to wear a glasses when he is out of his Abel-Kamul (which had an automatic sight adjustment system).
During one of his Dream Arena trials that's created by The Liberator, the setting of the arena is the future Yamato, there Akuta (who had an appearance of an unnamed beast) are fought with a growth up Shinonon and Kiwru in the underground before escape into the land but is killed by the adult Anju. However this actually happened to Anju in "Sprouting from the buried fire" where she kills an unnamed beast at the exact same place. Either it's just a coincidence or Dream Arena isn't actually a dream like The Liberator claimed and Akuta actually went to multiple timeline trying to fight to dead with many people while believes that it's just part of made up trials.
During Magne's character story, he is shown to be good at fighting game. It's likely he used to play one before he lost his memories.
In the flashback of Chapter 12, Ozuchi calls Akuta with his original name however his name can't be read and is written as XXX.
