Biography[]
The emperor of Yamato is actually a human scientist who survived Uitsualnemetia's attack on mankind and lived all this time through experiments he had conducted on himself which extended his lifespan. He created not just the country of Yamato but also its people through using the data his brother Haku had stolen from the Iceman project via hacking. His wife and daughter were turned to Tatari before his eyes, and his ultimate goal is to restore the old race of man. Honoka and Anju are copies of his wife and daughter made with their genetic material. When he reveals his true identity to Haku he also reveals that he is dying, and wants Haku to take after him and restore mankind. His invasion of Tuskur is to gain access to the ruins under Onkamiyamukai, but he is assassinated via poison before this can be accomplished and the invasion fails.
Background[]
Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception[]
According to rumor, he established the Imperial Capital himself, displayed incredible supernatural powers in wars past, and has lived for at least two centuries since the founding of Yamato. He is considered an almighty being by the citizenry.

Mito
He appears as a spindly old, but good-natured man who seems to be physically handicapped, and uses a wheelchair. Uruuru and Saraana led Haku to meet him under his alter ego as Mito. He calls himself a retired crepe merchant. Mito seemed to approve greatly of Haku, and held a feast for him using Uruuru and Saraana to call upon him. Eventually, Haku realized the old man's true identity: the Mikado. Mito reveals that he is a survivor of the ancient race of mankind, thought to be extinct--one of the last Onvitaikayan, and the older brother of Haku. Prior to mankind turning into Tatari, he put his younger brother to sleep in a facility in Kujyuri as part of an unknown experiment.
After the disaster and feeling the despair of loneliness of having lost his wife and child and his own kind, Mito decided to create more demihumans. For years he acted as their father and leader, giving them names and assignments. In time, they multiplied and flourished like the human race and were the happiest days of the Mikado's life. But in Mito's eyes, the demihumans could not replace mankind and heal his broken heart. No matter how much his people loved and adored him, they were not the human race in his eyes. As centuries passed, Mito sought the ruins and laboratories that he believed would contain the knowledge he seeks to return mankind from their state as Tatari, thus making him wage war on other countries just to seek those ruins. As centuries passed though, he began to lose hope until news of Haku reached his ear, along with his amnesia. Thus he sought to give the burden to his little brother to restore their people.
During Yamato's invasion of Tuskur, he was met with a surprise attack, and he was thought to have been assassinated.
Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth[]
However, Mito had been hiding in his facility below the capital, slowly recovering through the power of the technology inside. When Anju became the Mikado, after the turmoil in the Imperial Capital settled, he revealed the truth of his survival to Oshtor, whom he knew was his younger brother Haku, and entrusted him with his final goal: the dream of saving the Onvitaikayan that had been turned into the Tatari. He also requested to meet with Kuon, whom he owed an apology for the invasion of her homeland as an act of selfishness. He also owed another for Haku's circumstance with the Akuruka, that it was made to be fit for humans and once attached, it is permanent.
During the conflict surrounding the Master Key, it was revealed that Woshis was a clone of the Mikado, and in Woshis's madness, he released the Tatari that had been in containment underground. In order to resolve this, the Mikado ordered Amaterasu to fire, and he remained behind to bear the duty of finalizing the firing command and to pay the price of the sins he committed. He passed his crown over to Anju and said goodbye to his brother one last time, telling him how glad he was to have met him once again. Once everyone had been evacuated or otherwise made safe, he was consumed by the light along with Honoka, whom he asked to to be his wife in the next life.

Originally intended to succeed him, he changed his mind and decided to allow Woshis to live a life he wants for himself and not for others. Unfortunately, this made Woshis feel abandoned and jealous of his father, wanting to complete his goal of restoring mankind. The Mikado in turn admits that he could not understand Woshis' heart and kept the secret that he was a clone to himself, a secret he did not want Woshis to find out.

- He can actually still able to walk (and even run) as seen in Monochrome Mobius.
- In Lost Flag, he was mention to died peacefully in an alternate timeline. Considered he is still alive when Tiseriri was younger, this mean that if Woshis doesn't betrayed him, he is likely only had at least about 10 to 20 more years left to live.
